They can also seek certifications like the Certified Supply Chain Manager or the Certified Public Contract Manager to boost their career prospects.

In addition to course offerings, consider whether a university is accredited by a body like the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation which has accreditation for 8,200 institutions and 44,000 programs. Choose a school with a good student-to-teacher-ratio, as this will ensure you get a quality education.

Some colleges offer hybrid or online courses that combine classroom instruction and virtual learning opportunities. This is a popular option for employees who work on an unstructured schedule and are in a position to not attend traditional classes. Some online-only courses provide associate degrees or certificates and others offer bachelor’s or master’s degrees.
